As twisted and backwards as it may sound, summer makes me want to read more than any other time of year. Sitting out in the warm weather and sunshine with a good book and a cool drink (oh look, another cliche!) is relaxing and envy-worthy. Since summertime can get a little hectic with scheduling and balancing all the things you want to do, reading isn’t always the first thing to come to mind, so I decided to check out Goodreads and pull together a short list of books that I want to read this summer.
- Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty – Three women not sure what they’re doing with their lives; could get interesting! All three situations are different and yet somehow these women link together and affect each other in unthinkable ways… yup ya hooked me. I’ve heard lots of good reviews of this one, it’s also a tv show if you’re more into that!
- The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn – I am a big fan of mystery and crime books, and the summary gave me a lot of The Girl on the Train (by Paula Hawkins) vibes, so I figured it would probably be something I’d enjoy.
- Confess by Colleen Hoover – Who doesn’t love a predictable love story? Most of the books I’ve read by Colleen Hoover are very similar, but I still can’t help loving a happy ending :’)
- The Self-Love Experiment by Shannon Kaiser – If you’ve read any of my past posts, you’ve maybe seen the one about loving yourself. I’m ALL about it. *hugs myself* I chose this one because I like how it lays out 15 specific principles to “Becoming more kind, compassionate, and accepting of yourself”. So cute!
I’ll keep the list to just four books, short and sweet! Once I finish Two Kinds of Truth by Michael Connelly (crime) I’ll get started on these ones. I plan on doing a review on each of these after I get through them, so stay tuned for recommendations if you’re interested.
Feel free to check out my Goodreads account! I’ll link it here. I’m not a loyal Goodreads user but I do like to update my reading list every once in a while. I think it’s kinda fun to see all the books you’ve read and if there are any patterns with the ones you like and the ones you didn’t, because usually there are. My favorites genres are romance, mystery/crime, and the occasional self-help book to pick me up every once in a while. Hope you guys like these if you happen to read one, I’ll be sure to let you know what I think!
