Spring Break “ME Week”

An appropriate title for this post would probably go something like “How to not get kinda sorta depressed when all of your friends are going on spring break vacations and you’re not” but I thought that might be a little dramatic. Not to mention, way too long. Either way – that is essentially what I’ll be discussing briefly in this week’s post. (I say “week” like I post routinely every week…. oh how I WISH that was the case!)

This week is closing up the first half of spring semester, the weather is finally turning livable (no, polar vortex is NOT livable) and every one is getting antsy preparing for their big spring break vacations they have planned. Not me! Rather than getting antsy for a fun trip, I’m getting excited for having a whole. week. without. obligations.

At first I was a little bummed about not having any plans. My roommates are going to Daytona Beach or South Padre or Colorado – and I’m going to hang out with my parents! But now after a chaotic week of school and homework, there is nothing I am looking forward to more than spending the week at home with my family, with nothing to do but enjoy some home cooked meals and lots of free time.

I started to think of ways that I can maximize the time for relaxing and unwinding. After jotting down a list of things that I really want to get done with this sudden free time, I thought it would be appropriate to brainstorm a list of self-care things for each day. It’s easy to lose track of time when you have nothing to do, so a list will help to keep me on track and not procrastinate the me time that I really do need. A lightbulb came on in my head. . . it’s a ME week!

Spring break will be all about me this year – is this selfish? Not even! Self love and care is a huge component to a happy, content life. I want to try yoga in the mornings, maybe a bubble bath or two, journaling gratitudes & affirmations, cooking healthy & yummy meals to name a couple. Hopefully catch up on a few blog posts!

I thought it would be a fun experiment to post each day of my Me Week on my Instagram story, something a little more real time than my blog. Follow me on the gram @beckyxx2 to tag along and maybe learn some tips or ideas to self-care. I’m excited to share what really chills me out! I hope everyone is enjoying the nicer weather and having an exciting spring break! As for me, I’ll be here pampering myself 🙂 xo
